For the love of tidy.

I am a BIG fan of organising in art.  Or art in organising.  At the risk of sounding like a complete (language warning) wanker, I have been known to call my work “my craft”.  God, that does sound so wanky. But I can’t deny that my jobbie is creative.  And hands on.  And creates new things (often from old).  And can be inspiring, progressive, thought provoking and sometimes controversial.

So I want to share with you some STUNNING organising in art by Swiss artist, Ursus Wehril, a suited (as in business clothes) Swiss artist.  His work, Kunst Aufraumen (literal translation, Art Cleaning) features before and afters of various items: alphabet soup, a pine tree branch, some peeps by the pool.  The work is beautiful but I can’t tell you why.  I don’t know much about art but I know what I like. I just thinks it’s clever and pretty.

Check out the very fun making of this work here on YouTube. Thanks so much to my pals on the NAPO chat board for the heads out about this artist.

  1. Most of them are lovely but that first one with the pine branch torn apart and sorted into needles makes me feel really sad. I guess it means there’s sometimes beauty in disorganisation (or at least, a different kind of organisation).

  2. Aaahhh…I was loving all those tidily arranged things, until I saw the stars. Oh, perhaps not everything looks better in an orderly fashion. ugh, it sickens me to say that!

What do you think?
